NUMEN is one of 8 pieces designed for the Sicilian company DiSe, curated by Moncada Rangel, to celebrate an intimate moment of daily life, as an ARCHIPELAGO of DOMESTIC MONUMENTS.
Whenever a big decision has to be discussed, the parties gather around a table. This is where politics are made - at round table discussions.
Whenever there is a block party or you go to a local restaurant you sit on a bench and if someone wants to join they squeeze in. You might be placed next to someone you don’t know, but the bench is an equaliser. Food and drinks will fuel new friendships.
Numen is both of these world's. High brow talks and rustic dining. Everybody sees everybody and has an equal place.
On Numen the table and the bench share the same construction. This the bench is draped over the legs (like it was molten cheese). The seat turns into an arm rest.
It looks like a burner on a gas stove. It's a place for cooking food for thoughts.
