Waag Society
for the new offices of the Waag Society in the Pakhuis De Zwijger NL was commisioned to do their interior. As it became my project I got to design some own furniture that was custome made for this place. The stoel “mlk” is was one off the developments made for this project. Furthermore .... ...I designed 4 kitchens, an entrance desk, 3 conference tables, 3 lunch tables, 6 pillows for a bed like sofa and a lounge that got skipped at the end.
For the tables of Waag Society the topic for me was to make sculptures and getting strenght through fixing sheet metal with each other under an angle.
everything looked light and easy as cardboard models. Then the carpenter claimed everything had to be done in 8 mm steel for the conference tables and 3 mm for the racks of the lunchtables.
What looked so light on the computer screen ended up as really heavty objects.
As an architect you can be so remote and so in your head about the physical reality! The other disadvantage is, that you always build prototypes...
