The optical carpets are about optical effects and perception of depth.

"Fade" is triangular shapes turned unsharp and fading thus suggesting depth of planes.
"Fold" is a 2D representation of a 3D object with 2 virtual light sources. A red arrow pattern is running across the 6 cubes.
The Kilim "Wave" gives an optical Illusion of jumping and distortion overlaid with a 9 fields composition cross (as found on camera screens). It is as well a black pattern on white ground as a white pattern on black ground. The construction lines of the pattern can be seen as blue threads.
